Planet Praga – Let’s Get to Know Each Other.
We invite you to a unique exhibition of photography and cyanotype that will transport you to Planet Praga. In the raw landscape of abandoned tenements and neglected gateways, you’ll find magical places created and co-created by the Citizens Not From This Earth. Among them are residents of Praga, as well as newcomers who feel like true Praga inhabitants at heart.
The Planet Praga exhibition will be hosted in the most atmospheric Praga cafés and clubs: OFFSIDE (ul. Wileńska 23), 4 POKOJE (ul. Wileńska 19), SKŁAD BUTELEK (ul. 11 Listopada 22), Ksiuty w Środku (środkowa 14), and the creative spaces of the Street Art STACJA PRAGA (ul. Zaokopowa 5). In each of these unique venues, you will see different photographs.
The exhibition will showcase portraits of people who, breathing in the alternative atmosphere of Planet Praga, create images, music, poetry, and murals. You will visit places hidden in streets that look like scenes from a post-apocalyptic film, where the citizens of Planet Praga pursue their creative passions, collaborate, or simply enjoy the beauty and sensory experience of art. It is in these places that you will see different parts of the exhibition—portraits taken at events, as well as photographs documenting the events themselves. We hope we have captured the spontaneous and rebellious atmosphere of Planet Praga.
Some of the photos are created using cyanotype—a 19th-century photographic technique that bridges painting and light painting. Cyanotypes, balancing between the browns of black tea, coffee black, and deep blue, uniquely convey the nostalgic and otherworldly character of Planet Praga.
